Fan Case Lifter

Safety and precision for aerospace manufacturing.

Using cutting-edge technology Banelec designed and manufactured a unique system that lifts and rotates fan case units for aircrafts, ensuring the safety of engineers at all times.

Міндет

Banelec was approached by a leading aircraft engine manufacturer to develop a solution that would streamline the process of handling fan case units while ensuring the safety of workers and minimising the risk of damage to the equipment. The client required a system that could lift and manoeuvre fan case units with precision and efficiency, while also being easy to operate and maintain.

Fan case units are critical components of aircraft engines, responsible for directing airflow and providing thrust. These units are typically large and heavy, making them challenging to handle and manoeuvre during construction and finishing. Engineers safety when working on these units was of optimum importance due to the need to work within the fan case at different heights.

Banelec’s team of design engineers worked closely with the client to understand their specific requirements and challenges. After conducting a thorough analysis of the existing processes and equipment, Banelec proposed a technologically advanced system that could seamlessly lift and rotate fan case units using electric powered jacks.

The system was designed with safety as the priority, allowing for customisation to rotate the fan case easily, as well raise and lower it at a speed which is safe for those working in and around the vicinity. The system comprises of three jacks positioned equal distances apart, each with an individual electrical control panel which all work in unison to manipulate the system to suit the engineer’s requirements.

The system also features a user-friendly interface that allowed operators to control the lifting and manoeuvring process with ease using a radio control system.

Installation and testing

Once the system was designed and developed, Banelec worked closely with the client to install and integrate it into their existing processes. The installation was carried out efficiently and with minimal disruption to the client’s operations.

This is the first electric powered jack to be installed within the flow line at the leading aircraft manufacturer; with a further 6 to be installed in the coming year.

Extensive testing was conducted to ensure that the system met the client’s requirements and performed reliably under different operating conditions. The electric powered jacks were put through rigorous tests to assess their lifting capacity, accuracy, durability and reliability.

Нәтижесі

The system designed and manufactured by Banelec proved to be a game-changer for the client, allowing their staff to complete work on the fan case units with optimum safety at all times. The electric powered jacks provided precise and smooth lifting and rotating capabilities, reducing the risk of damage to the equipment and enhancing the safety of workers.

Overall, Banelec’s innovative solution not only addressed the client’s specific requirements but also set a new standard for handling and manoeuvring fan case units safely in the aerospace industry. The success of this project further solidified Banelec’s reputation as a leader in engineering and manufacturing solutions for diverse industries.
